iPad, on Interface iNap February 7/10
The unveiling of the iPad came with a lot of negative attention due to some very unrealistic expectations. I'm not entirely impressed with the iPad either but I do believe that future versions of the device will be looked upon as more revolutionary rather than just a blown up iPod.
However, I'm not going to discuss the iPad pros and cons I'm more baffled at the design of the interface which left much to be desired due to the fact that it does look like a complete User Interface transfer from the iPod.
Two points to discuss: Icons, Background
ICONS
Why did Apple choose to use what seems like the exact same icon size as the iPod?
When I first saw the presentation of the iPad it left me feeling lifeless and baffled as to why the Apple marketing machine/design team was not on point for this product launch.

1. The Icon size is not proportioned properly for the screen size and that creates far too much space between icons which makes it look very clumsy.
2. The font size underneath the icons is proportioned to the icon but again it is not very relevant to the screen size.
3. Lastly, it looks like we are dealing with both; drop shadows on the top icons and reflections on the bottom icons. For me there are too many effects to emphasize the icons which could have been avoided by adjusted the icons proportions.
BACKGROUND
Who thought it was a good idea to steal a Windows background for an Apple product launch?

I'm sure that the theme is or will be customizable but who thought that this theme was the best of the bunch? I think the graphics department dropped the ball on this product, but there's always V2!
